If you follow me on Facebook then you already know that this year I decided to try out a 25 Days To Christmas challenge that I found on Pinterest (love that website btw). I started a little slow and ended up stopping short at 22 on Christmas Day but it turned out pretty good nonetheless. I got to meet and highlight several new people and bring a little joy that they could share with their families and friends this year as well. I’ll refrain from using their names here (especially since there are children) but I’d like to share a little about these new friends.
Couple #1 – They’re a college couple so a few years younger than me and this was their first chance to have professional pictures taken together and they wanted their fur baby along for the ride as well. It’s a really nice thing to do. A and I didn’t get many pictures while dating (just one that his Mom took from across the table at Arby’s once) so our scrapbooks start at the engagement and jump straight to the wedding from there. So I was super happy they took this opportunity to gather memories to look back on. For this part of the photo challenge, they wanted the session focusing on: lights, fun, fur, cozy and outdoors. Most of which are embodied in this picture alone but they were able to go home with images that represented each of those individually.
Family # 1 – Super precious! I wanted a session that was crafty to cover the challenge points: glitter, ornaments, homemade, and family. So the family got to sit together and make Christmas cards for their grandmother using glitter pens and stickers. It was messy, it was fun, it was adorable! Turns out we had some commonalities as well. They live back in my home town is it shouldn’t have been a surprise to learn that the parents were friends from school with my little sister “back in the day” lol. Small world!
Family #2 – This is probably one of my favorite pictures from the whole series. It tells a very clear, sweet story and looks like it could be on a home magazine cover! Baking Christmas cookies together is a tradition of their’s so when she saw my listing they jumped on it. It was asking for a family who liked to bake to cover: baking, stockings, naughty or nice, elves and something green. Anyway, they were a lot of fun to hang out with during the session and the boys were ornery as ever (reminds me of my little brother when we were kids). Unfortunately the dad was away (he’s military) so he didn’t get to participate but I think they have something really sweet to share with him when he gets back.
Couple #2 – For this session I wanted: something red, hot, black and white, traditions and Oh Christmas tree. You might recognize this couple from previous posts but they just moved into a new home (just in time for the holiday!) so I thought it was appropriate to give them a visit again.
It was kind of scary to put myself out there and hope to reach total strangers online but in the end it was definitely worth it! The Pinterest “challenge” was an easy way to broach the subject and created a clear goal to focus on. It seems we all had a lot of fun with this and everybody gets pictures and memories to share this holiday. I totally plan on doing this again next year!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone!!
